After sending the Children's Services Program Brochure to Emily, the work continued and led us to another opportunity to learn the skill of concise and to-the-point writing. We were given another packet entitled "Programs and Services Descriptions 2012." Similar to what we accomplished with the "Children's Services Program" Brochure, we needed to read, understand, and summarize the content into a word count appropriate for a brochure.
Once again there were a lot of individual, specific programs outlined in the original packet. We decided to follow the pattern of creating a general description brochure and individual inserts to describe each specific service.
We called this document the "Valley Mental Health Overview Brochure." It was a challenge to write and adjust paragraphs that gave the general description of the services and to make sure that it was easily approachable by all potential age groups and aspects of society. By the end, we felt like we had produced a solid overview that could be used to present the organization to anyone.
